three things thursday

This is a blog about running, right?

1. Like I said, cleared to run.  I only ran 10-20 seconds before having to stop, and my IT has been swollen, sore, and inflamed ever since.  I think I'm going to give it another week (next Tuesday) and try again.  I am not upset about this at all.  It's part of recovery.  And to be honest, I'm not really looking forward to the first week or two back, where I can only run 1/2 mile at a time and my HR is maxed out and it takes me 6 minutes and my heart feels like it is going to explode.

2. Today is 6 weeks exactly since surgery.  Even looking down a long slow comeback, I know I made the right decision.

3. Today is the poet's birthday!  Happy Birthday to a great man.  There is no one I'd rather be walking next to.

  1. Happy birthday poet! October is a big month for you guys, huh? I know what you mean about coming back to running. The first few weeks suck. a lot. Just remember it keeps getting easier.

  2. The CUTE is killing me! Yay Poet! Happy Birthday!

I doubt your HR will be maxed out with all your biking miles! You just wait and see. :)

  3. Happy Birthday to the Poet! And keep that chin up girly, you know it will be rough at first but it will all be worth it soon enough! I can't wait for about 3 weeks from now when you run your first 5 miler and feel on top of the world!

  4. those pictures speak to love, fun, and lots of laughter! happy birthday indeed!

  5. Happy Birthday Poet!

I love your positive attitude. I'm not sure that I would be as zen as you. Continued luck in recovery!

  6. Happy Birthday to the poet! Such beautiful pictures but I really liked the 'no other man I'd rather be walking next to' - that is gorgeous!

  7. Looks like you both cleared the karaoke bar when you hit the stage! LOL!

    Happy Birthday Poet!

You're being smart, I'm glad, I don't want to fly 2,000 miles out there just to beat you up for pushing it too hard, then get back on a plane and fly another 2,000 miles home. Sheesh! It will happen, look how har you have come!
Hope you're having a good week!

  8. What a wonderful day! I LOVE the doggy pics and especially the one with the snow! Karel and I will be making a trip up to washington DC sometime in the next month or two. Maybe we can meet up! Have a great weekend and keep making steps with your recovery!
