three things thursday

1. The rain canceled my ride this morning.  I AM POUTING. 2. Finally had a workout that made me want to puke last night.  Tacked on 10x50 yards, 15 seconds recovery, increasing speed, at the end of my swim workout.  I couldn't remember the last time I did it, so the first one at 48 seconds felt slow.  Ugh.  The last one at 34 seconds make me throw up, just a little, inside my goggles.  Woo-hoo for things that make me want to puke & die!  Also, during one of them, I was listening to a hip-hop song that goes "wikki wah wikki wikki wah" and I always sing that part out loud because I'm a gangsta, so I did.  Just before a flip-turn, halfway through a 50.  Water, meet sinus cavity!  You guys are going to be great friends! 3. I am SO EXCITED to travel to Bloomington this weekend for Homecoming.  I've never been to Homecoming, and I'm excited to wear red, hang with my girls, eat at Pizza Express, stomp around in Brown County, and ...

weekly wrap

Life is returning to normal. A few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to wrap up my week every Monday so I could track my recovery.  I probably won't do it forever, but I think that for now, it will help me to see progress when the day-to-day feels like I'm not moving forward.  (Also, I am aware that it is not Monday). Wednesday: 45 minutes lifting (legs), 35 minutes/8 miles on recumbent bike (see why I'm bored out of my mind?). Thursday: 20 minutes lifting (a/c/b), ridiculous migraine and HR through the roof, went home. Friday: 38 minutes/9.2 miles cycling. Saturday: Rest day (*cough* hangover *cough*). Sunday: 45 minutes lifting (legs), 21 minutes/6 miles on recumbent bike. See?  Don't I feel better now? You'll notice that there's no swimming in this week.  I bailed on both my usua...

I had a pretty perfect day on Friday.   I got back on my bike, outside, for the first time in 3 weeks.  I didn't look at speed or time, just plugged in my tunes and rode to the Jefferson Memorial and back.  It was a gorgeous morning and it made me so happy to be riding again.   I came home and worked for a bit, and then we went out to lunch at Busboys & Poets with the puppy.  We spent a gorgeous afternoon at the dog park with him, and then got dressed up and went out to dinner at Sweetwater Tavern , my favorite place on earth.  After an amazing dinner, we headed to Murphy's in Old Town where we proceeded to sing our lungs out with the Irish guitar guy and drink our faces off.  A perfect birthday.  I went to sleep happy, feeling loved. My very good friend Jamie was in town for the weekend, and we spent Saturday catching up, shopping, and generally being lazy.  He had planned to take me out to dinner on Saturday night to celebrate my bi...
