warning! warning!

Yesterday I switched from blogspot to my own domain.  However, it looks like it is not pushing new posts to RSS/Google readers.  I've switched it back to blogspot for now, but please update your RSS/Google readers to include http://www.runthisamazingday.com and I'll make the switch over the weekend!   In the meantime, enjoy my total bike commute fail from this morning, below.

wordless wednesday

Total bike commute fail.   It was hot in the gym this morning so I wore shorts on the bike.  My legs looked like this. I forgot to pack my hairbrush which I didn't discover until after the rain turned my hair into a tangled rat's nest and I took a shower.   And somehow I managed to pack this fabulous combination.  That's charcoal pants, purple socks and navy flats. And I forgot to put on any ride glide.  Sorry, suckers, no picture. How's your Wednesday going?

what goes up...

....must come down.  We all learned that in elementary school, right? I've been emailing recently with someone on a local cycling team about joining.  Part of the process is to join them for a ride so they can check you out - I think mostly to make sure you don't show up on a purple tricycle and that you're at least going to make a reasonable attempt to keep up.  It's a strong team and I know that the best way to get better at anything is to do it with people who are stronger, better, and faster than you.  They do a Monday night no-drop ride which was what the very kind membership coordinator recommended I try.  I didn't really mention my PT restrictions on speed/climbing because I don't want to be the lame kid that shows up on the first day with a note.  And I discovered, in kind, that she didn't really mention that it's not just a ride, it's a hill workout, one that covers a lot of the tough terrain I rode in last summer's hill workouts - an...

I do not understand my stupid body.  I could not run 1 mile on Friday.  I actually couldn't run 1 step.  But cycling is all fine?  What is going on? I met up Saturday morning with Lauren and Emily for a ride of undetermined length.  I warned them multiple times that I am restricted to no climbing strength or using really any power at all right now which makes me pretty annoying to ride with, plus I basically complain about it every 5 minutes plus I cuss a lot on a bicycle.  Who doesn't want to ride with me?  Lauren and I met up on the MV trail and met Emily in Georgetown and then headed out to Maryland from there.  The ride to Georgetown was mostly downhill, and the first 15 miles or so out of DC were pretty flat.  It was pretty chilly but we were fine as long as we kept moving and for the first time in months there was no 35mph wind trying to knock my ass over.  We stopped to shove calories down about 22 miles in and decided to keep ...
