1. In case you missed it, I'm back in DC.  As well as being reunited with my pups, I've been reunited with my scale.  I'm hoping it's just pissed off because I was gone for a month and that the numbers will calm down in a few days, although that isn't likely based on my "one last X" social calendar between now and December 21st.  Also, I've now cooked this twice in three days: It's pizza.  I promise.  And it might be one of the best goddamn pizzas I've ever made.  Plus someone left a bunch of delicious beer in my fridge, and I really want one more Baked & Wired cupcake before I move away and the little sliders at Matchbox and, oh, hell.  I'll worry about the scale in January with everyone else.  I can still squeak my jeans on and nothing is falling out of my sports bras so I don't think it's that much of a problem anyway. 2. I've REALLY missed these guys, and have spent the better part of three work days with them layin

Graham gets special privileges around here. Each morning, the poet feeds the pups and lets them out while I snooze, mainly because he has always gotten up FAR earlier than I have, even when I had to squeeze IM training in before work.   After they have their breakfast and chew toy time, the girls hit their houses for a nap and Graham, because he is a spoiled baby, runs down the steps and jumps in bed with his mamas.  And there we snuggle until I pry myself out of the bed to start the day.   It's one of the things I've missed the most about being in Colorado, and one of the things I am most thankful to have back.  I've forgotten about how quickly he takes up the entire bed, stretching and kicking me in the kidneys until I move over.  Or how he will suddenly sneeze violently, directly into my ear.  Sometimes, if I don't have to be up early, I'll go get the girls and we'll all have a good pre-dawn session. I'm so happy in Colorado already, I love it

1. I do not like beans, except in burritos.  I do not like eggs, except in cake.  I do not like fish, except in shrimp. 2. My minimum amount of yardage to make it worthwhile to get wet has gone from 1500 to about 2400, which means I've been cranky multiple times this week. 3. But thirty minutes of running is totally worth it. 4. I made of point of not talking about where I worked online anywhere...until my boss outed me on Twitter about five weeks ago.   5. Yesterday I went and picked up my lunch instead of packing it.  It's weird how 45ยบ just isn't as cold here. 6. I've been eating about 1-2lbs of spinach per day since I moved. 7. I didn't ride my bike for six weeks and then I rode two days in a row.  Life lesson: order more ride glide BEFORE you run out.  I was NOT as happy as a clam; in fact, my clam was not...well, you know how this ends. 8. I did forget about the magical feeling that happens when you hop on someone's wheel.  Thanks, kind larg

In the blogging handbook, it is written that in December, one must blog about one's upcoming-year race schedule.   Required .   After I signed up for IMLP, I watched a lot of updates scroll by as people figured out their next season goal races, tune-up races, fun races, shake-out-the-cobweb races.  And I had absolutely zero interest in any of it.  I wasn't ready to think about next year, I wasn't even ready to think about training again.  But time passed, as it annoyingly tends to do, and I found myself starting to itch a bit, found myself starting to mind how tight my pants were and that my upper arms were doing that weird floppy thing, found myself ready to think about being an athlete again.  This was the biggest year I've had as an amateur triathlete, so it makes sense that I needed the biggest break.  But now I'm glad that it's over. So I did the research and I made my lists and I brought it all to Sonja.  She crunched it all through her powerful coac
