random friday facts

1. I might be a little afraid to fly.  Usually I deal with this by getting drunk prior to boarding.  It's the taking off and landing I don't like. 2. I really hate it when men wear short-sleeve shirts that have sleeves that are too short.  Ditto for shorts.  No one wants to see your white pasty slightly jiggly upper arms. 3. I'm the person that yells, "Walk on the left!" on the metro escalators. 4. I don't like white wine. 5. I get very paranoid about having uneven tan lines, and will contort my body into weird uncomfortable positions to try and get even sun. 6. I don't understand people that wear rings to yoga.  Ouch? 7. I save coupons, but then forget to use them. 8. I can't remember the last time I bought exercise clothes that weren't on sale. 9. My food cravings have become almost invisible since my diet got better. 10. When I don't get enough sleep, everything goes wrong and I spend every minute of the day trying...

november: the month of the 5K

Let's see how November went. November Goals Register for a race.  Ignore time despite extreme likelihood of PW & listen to body. Completed 3 races this month and - this is either surprising or depressing - no PW. Look for some new recipes.  Break out of the 5-meal rotation.   I tried a lot of new recipes this month.  Many of them were edible. Go back to the  Egyptian Magician , despite possibility of bitch-slapping for having surgery.   No bitch-slapping - in fact, I'm really glad I went back, as we're handling all my little tweaky things. Man up and ride outside as long as possible.   I don't know if I'd call this a success...I definitely had many outside rides this month, but I also bought a trainer after a rough 45ยบ ride. Do not, under any circumstances, buy clearance Halloween candy.  BACK AWAY FROM THE CANDY.   WOOHOO!  Candy resistance is clearly my superpower.  It's hard to remember where I was a month ago.  W...

On Thanksgiving, it snowed. Graham had a busy weekend of play dates: I had a super awesome trainer party (note: much easier to tolerate 2 hours on the trainer with friends): And last night, we hung ornaments on our tree: And I seem to have overcome my Monday-afternoon-swims-suck problem by swimming at 8am yesterday.  But, boy, is it tough to jump in the water first thing Monday morning! Monday: 45 minutes lifting (legs), another swim failure: 40 minutes/2000 yards swim Tuesday: 30 minutes lifting (a/c/b), 50 minutes/5.1 miles walk/run Wednesday: Rest Thursday: 10 minutes/1 mile jog with Graham Friday: Rest Saturday: 55 minutes lifting (legs), 1:02/6.26 miles walk/run Sunday: 40 minutes lifting (a/c/b), 2:00/28.3 miles cycling (trainer) Thank you - everyone - for all of the support yesterday.  I can't tell you all how much it helps and means to me.
