three things thursday

1. Last week at PT was a hot mess.  I was tight and hurting and we spent 40 minutes releasing things and then trying to realign me, unsuccessfully.  I left still out.  My PT said it might have been that I was still tight from the heavy weight lifting I had done that morning, and sent me home to heat and try again.  That worked.  He also told me that maybe some of the ligaments were loose from constantly realigning myself, and to NOT put myself back in alignment unless the pain was pretty unbearable.   So I went out, and back in on Thursday.  I made it until Saturday night before I couldn't stand it, and then Sunday night, and that's it until I got to PT yesterday.  I could tell that I had been out for a few days because my SI joint was aching, but it wasn't unbearable.  So we talked, and he had two new theories.  He asked me when the last time I had any x-rays or MRIs done was, and I told him March.  His first theory is that I ha...

Since yesterday was a rest day, I thought I'd take a break from swim/bike/run/eat carbs/sleep today.  (Side note - my rest day equaled the following things being baked: 2 loaves of beer bread, 2 cakes, a pesto calzone, mini cinnamon rolls and a homemade pizza.  I think I would have been better off getting in the pool).  In case you are new here, I have two dogs, Graham (almost 2) and Molly (might live to see her first birthday).  We brought Graham home at 7 weeks: And Molly home at 14 weeks: More than anything in the world, Graham wants to go outside and play: More than anything in the world, Molly wants to snuggle: Graham hates to swim.  He doesn't like getting his tail wet.  But Molly loves it. Molly isn't old enough to run yet, so she just has to cheer Graham on. They keep me company all day (I work from home). Their BFFs are Nigel and Aberton . When Molly came home, I tried to send her back, it was that hard.  But now she's my girl (she lov...

july: in which we are all very hot

As one of my very good friends taught me to say: well, that happened. July Goals Sleep as much as you can.  Half IM training is coming.   A lot of sleep but somehow I woke up exhausted this morning. Try and get rid of the triathlete tan.  I think this is a lost cause. Hill workouts.  Stop whining.  Enough said.  Big bombastic CHECK! Get a freaking hair cut!  Total fail.  I'd rather register for races. Dead lift 100lbs (more than one set of two reps).   On several occasions, 2x5 and even 1x5 of 110lbs.  My ass is a beast. Yoga and swimming are good recovery activities.  More of this.   Lots of swimming, anyway... I'm going to round up and call July a great month.  When June ended, I was feeling wiped out from lots of running and racing in the heat.  I took  quite a few rest days in a row  and eased back into training.  I started off the month trying to inch up my long run, but after irritating my shin, b...
